Please bring enough cash. Once in Neukirchen and surrounds, you will NOT be able to pay for anything by card.
You can pay by card in Nuremberg, but overall, the level of card usage in Germany is not as high as here. You cannot get cash back in a shop for instance.
There is an ATM at Nuremberg Airport, which should accept the usual cards. There is another ATM in Neukirchen, but it may be more limited with regards to the cards it takes. So fill yourself up with Euros before you get to the urdy-gurdy bit.
Don't worry about it getting nicked, crime is very low and people leave things about. Also everyone else pays by cash, so really, you'll be fine.
